Upaya launches New Product for NetSuite – "Customer Payment Made Easy"

Customer Payment Made Easy

Customer Payment Made Easy is Upaya’s newest product. So why did we call it Made Easy? Primarily, it automates the recording of entries related to adjustments in payment. Ideally, whatever a customer owes you is what they settle with you. However, there are instances when their payment is more or less than the amount of the receivable. These are related to bank charges and credit memos.

Our product provides efficiency and zero errors in handling customer adjustment fees. Our script works in such a way that whether you receive more or less payment than the receivable amount, it automates the creation of the corresponding journal entry for the payment adjustments. Below are the different scenarios that this product will address.

Scenario 1: Customer owes $500. Customer sends payment of $500. However, bank paid only $470. The difference of $30 is bank fees (deducted).

In NetSuite’s Pay Bill, user will enter $470 as payment and in a custom field “Bank Fees (Deducted)”, they enter $30. Once the transaction is saved, the script will run to create below journal entry:

Line 1: Bank fee $30 debit with Customer in name field

Line 2: Account Receivable (from payment) $30 credit

Scenario 2: Customer owes $500. Customer sends payment of $500. Bank paid $500 plus $30 as wire fee.

In NetSuite’s Pay Bill, user will enter $500 as payment and in a custom field “Bank Fees (Additional)”, they enter $30. Once the transaction is saved, the script will run to create below journal entry:

Line 1: Bank Fee (from script parameter) $30 debit with Customer in name field

Line 2: Bank Account (from payment) $30 credit

Scenario 3: Customer owes $500. Customer sends payment of $400 and wants to settle invoice.

In NetSuite’s Pay Bill, user will enter $400 as payment and in a custom field “Payment Credit”, they enter $100. Once the transaction is saved, the script will run to create below journal entry:

Line 1: Bad Debts (from Parameters) $100 debit with Customer in name field

Line 2: Accounts Receivable (from payment) $100 credit.
